As originally written and recited:
I do not know what has meaning
or fortitude, but in case it needs
to make its way to you: there are times
that I can scarcely think to beat my
own heart, in anguish from the distance
between us.
We are all but shouting to each other
from opposite cliff sides, begging for
a better ear to hear us, with
nowhere to turn but opposite ways.
But I still feel you. If not for any rational
distinction, I reach to you in weakness,
silently, as to not turn a head.
And I do find solace there, a gentle
place to rest when I feel that
any and every force and every force in this world
could flatten me.
I feel you there, pushing them all back.
